I Discovered a World Forgotten

I remember being dropped off at my residence without being walked to the gate. I remember walking through the dark and wondering what happened to the chivalry of old, those days when men would walk women to their doors and treat them as ladies. What happened to men opening car doors or even offering a hand over pathways difficult to navigate in heels. Could it be possible that those values are dead? I could not accept this.

I  marvelled at the men around, not in a way that includes admiration, but instead with a feeling of sadness and disappointment. There were times spent in the company of men that I felt if danger threatened I would be the one to defend us. So I went on a quest to discover that which every woman desires: chivalry and to be adored. I flipped from a world where there is no difference between men and women to one where I would become so extremely feminine and helpless that men would want to hover around me and protect me.

What did I discover? There is chivalry out there, if you allow room for it. This was just the start of my ever-continuing journey. I started reading books such as Fascinating Womanhood by Helen Andelin and The Man Whisperer by Rich Johnson. The former being so utterly (as one of my friends put it) “archaic” that I had to test it for myself. It worked. Since that time I have married the most wonderful and chivalrous man: a man who opens car doors and offers his hand; a man who protects and provides for me; a man who adores me.

I have no degree in psychology; I am not a dietician; I have no training in fashion design or interior decorating. My only qualification is that I am a domestic goddess – a woman who stays at home and fascinates her man with an ability to keep a home that is a haven. I have the time and a natural aptitude for these things, as we all do! This blog is about embracing your femininity because you will never partake in a more fun-filled and cheeky journey. I am still on this journey and I still have so much to learn but I wish to share my experience and journey together!

So if you are reading this make yourself a delicious cup of plunger coffee or pour yourself a glass of cool white wine because this blog is all about celebrating life. Live, laugh, play and discover your femininity.

And finally...watch your husband’s reaction...
